1960s Elgin Super Compressor
What We Fancy
The 1960s was a great era for dive watches, this decade saw advancements due to the demand and popularity of diving. This Elgin is what is known as a ‘Super Compressor’, a specialty case designed and manufactured by EPSA (Ervin Piquerez, S.A). The deeper you go, the more water-resistant the case becomes due to the water pressure. Other companies such as Wittnauer, Bulova, Hamilton, Enicar all made their own models of the Super Compressor. This example has a beautiful black gloss dial with great lume.
